Rishabh Goel, founder of Dodo Payments and alum of LBS and BITS Pilani, reached out to us via Twitter. He was looking to hire a Growth Lead who had ideally 1-3 YOE leading PLG growth at B2B SaaS startups.
At the time, we weren’t actively operating in the growth or marketing hiring space, our core focus had been on tech roles. But when Rishabh reached out, we didn’t hesitate. If the mission is meaningful and the founder is visionary, we never say no.
We immediately started finding appropriate candidates for the job role Rishabh provided us with. We started tapping our extensive talent pool and third-party platforms and were able to quickly gather over 250 applicants. After making careful considerations we introduced Rishabh with 3 standout profiles. Each brought something unique to the table, but it was Joshua’s profile that was able to match the ambitions of Rishabh.
Wanting to be thorough, Rishabh asked to speak with people who had previously worked with Joshua. We were able to arrange those conversations as well, we connected Rishabh with former managers of Joshua to help him have complete assurances before moving forward.
After talking with the managers, Rishabh ultimately hired Joshua, a decision which was based on careful evaluation. Although growth hiring isn't our main area, our network, quick turnaround, and founder-first approach allowed us to take on the role and see it through successfully.
